Maryann and J'aime bring a combined quilting experience of over 50 years!

They met through a local quilt guild, and initially were drawn together in a small group studying Quilting & Color.  From there they became friends, and eventually were both part of a wonderful group called “The Piecemakers” who meet once a week for quilting, food and friendship.

Both had dreamed of having a Quilt Shop for many years.  After two years working together as the “Block-of-the-Month” chairs for their local guild, they decided to give the business end of things a try.  Initially they decided to make quilt kits to vend at local quilt shows, but quickly outgrew the space in Maryann’s house.  After a year and a half in a smaller space in a beautiful old brick Shirt Factory building, they moved upstairs into their current space with lots more room and great light.

Maryann and J’aimé often laugh at how opposite they are!  Maryann is the more detail-oriented person with a great eye for color and potential for patterns – she loves the “warm” side of the color wheel and has a surprising way of combining fabrics that works beautifully!  J’aimé is the “verbal” one who is good at looking at the big picture and always wants to try (not necessarily finish) new things – working mostly from the “cool” side of the color wheel.  The combination works as can be seen from the shop samples – a lot of variety of patterns and fabrics brought together in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Behind the cash register is a sign that reads “Because Nice Matters.”  For Maryann and J’aimé, that is the most important part of the Shop’s philosophy!  Customers have many choices of where to go for quilt supplies – but here is the place where people know your name and are genuinely interested in you and your quilts, where they want to take the time to help you find just the right fabric or pattern for your project, and where you feel comfortable and “at home” every time you step through the door.
