Shannon's Blog
Thursday February 9, 2012 Are you looking for something to make for your "honey" for Valentine's Day? There are many quick and easy projects and patterns in the Shop. How about a tote for all their work "Stuff" or a purse for a daughter, a quick and easy quilt for someone special?
In addition to projects, Bill and I have been shopping and we have 130 new bolts of fabric in the shop! The shelves are full and there is a great selection of Civil War, novelties, batiks, 30's and so much more. New fabric is coming in all the time.
Sign up is strong for Sue Pritt's "Up North" classes in March. There are only one or two openings left. If you are thinking about making this lovely wall hanging don't hesitate to sign up soon. Again, if you want to see it, it is hanging in the shop, and we do have patterns available. I hope that you are enjoying this mild winter ( so far) and are getting lots of quilting time in, since we haven't had to spend time shoveling snow! Happy Quilting, Shannon
Monday January 22, 2012 Oh Boy! I have been shopping and the we have a ton of new fabric at the shop! Look for new fabric from Marcus Bros, Hoffman, RJR, Windham, Henry Glass and more. We have new novelties, 30's, batiks, Civil War repros and much more. It took us a couple of days just to get it all inventoried and put out on the shelves! I am also very excited to let you know that Sue Pritt is going to be doing a 2 and a half day workshop, featuring her "Up North" patterns, at the shop March 16, 17 and 18. Space is limited for this great workshop so if you are interested sign up quickly. There is more information and a picture on the Events and Classes page of the website. BUT, if you can stop into the shop, we have the quilt on display and it is BEAUTIFUL! We have also added some more classes to the schedule, including some great Make 'N Take classes. Ann will be making some cute seasonal wall hangings or table runners, just the thing to brighten up your home during the winter. Happy Quilting! Shannon
Wednesday January 11, 2012 We certainly are having a strange winter! So far we have had hardly any snow and what little we have had, is gone now. The forecast is showing a storm for tomorrow but we shall see. I know the skiers and snowmobilers are anxiously waiting for snow but for a quilter who cares? I use snowy days to stay warm in my house, quilting away. Tomorrow we are reorganizing the shop! Come on in soon to see our new look! We are updating our classroom to make it more comfortable for our students and the teachers. I am looking forward to seeing full classes sewing away in the redesigned classroom. Speaking of classes, more classes are being added to the website all the time, keep checking under Events/Classes for a class you want to take. Happy Quilting, Shannon
Thursday, December 29, 2011 I can't believe that 2011 is almost over! I hope that you had a great Christmas! We certainly did. The new year is a great time to learn a new skill. We have a wide variety of classes lined up , from beginner to advanced quilter. Sign up for a winter class at Adirondack Quilts and get out of the house, beat the January blahs and be creative all at the same time! I want to remind you again that the shop will be closed on January 3rd and 4th for inventory. To make our job easier stop in and take advantage of our pre inventory sale. Lots of bargains, especially on selected fabric which is $4.99 a yard (one yard minimum). What a deal! Whatever you do in 2012, I hope it is wonderful! Happy Quilting, Shannon

We are stocked with lots of great gift ideas and the staff is great at helping put together wonderful presents. Did you check out our new BLock of the Month? In addition, we have 3 Freebie Fridays coming up in the next few weeks. We hope that this will give you a chance to work on all those "secret" holiday projects, away from prying eyes. Please give the shop a call if you are coming, so that we can make sure we have enough tables and chairs set up. Since tomorrow is Veteran's Day, I want to remind you that we participate in the Return the Favor program that gives Veterans and their spouses a discount. I have been busy quilting on my long arm in the shop and hope to be calling you soon, if you have dropped off a top to be quilted. Happy Quilting, Shannon
Monday, October 24, 2011 Fall is here, for sure! Most trees have changed colors and in fact many have lost all their leaves due to the gusty winds we had last weekend. BUT now is the perfect time to settle down to do some serious quilting. We have been adding new fabrics and some gift items. You should see the puzzles! We have a terrific selection right now and they do make a great gift for a quilting friend. I know that most of you are super busy this time of year and that is why we have added a nice selection of one day classes to the web site. They make lovely gifts for friends, loved ones or even yourself. We have the Quilter's Quest Bag Sale running from Nov. 7th to 13th and watch for the November newsletter with the details of my birthday sale ! On October 28 we have added in the poplular Rag Quilt class on a Friday evening. Coming in November we have scheduled Ann's Batik Quilt class twice-once in the daytime and once in the evening. Many people have requested this class after seeing the sample in the shop so we are very pleased to be able to offer it twice. We are also offering a quilt-as-you-go Christmas Stocking Class, a 5 hour quilt class on Sunday Nov. 13 ( yes, you really can finish the top in 5 hours) as well as 2 Freebie Fridays, our usual clubs and Thanksgiving weekend there is an Open House at the Shirt Factory. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 Fall is in the air! Even though the past couple of days have been in the 80's, it sure gets chilly once that sun goes down. And it goes down earlier and earlier! The forecast is for low 60's as a high for later this week. Brrrrr!!!! This is the time of year when I think about making cozy quilts for the upcoming winter. We have several classes on the calendar for October and will soon be adding the November classes. Thursday September 8, 2011 WOW! We sure have had a couple of tough weeks with an earthquake, a hurricane, a tropical storm and major flooding. I cerrtainly hope that all my friends and customers were safe and secure during the past few weeks and that no one had any major damage. The staff and the shop all were safe and it is something we are very grateful for! As you can tell from the home page we are having a big give away this month. Bill decided that he wanted to give away a sewing machine and so we are! If you spend $25 at the shop ( there are some limitations) your name will get entered into a drawing and on October 1st we will draw the winner.

At our last staff meeting, we planned the classes that we will be holding in the next few months, (information under Events and CLasses will be updated in the next week or so, as we finalize all the details). Some of the classes will be Beginner's, Advanced Beginner's, several one day (or night) projects, Jan's popular Applique Cafe will be starting back up in September too. Tuesday July 26, 2011 Last night the staff from Adirondack quilts and the members of Sew What Friendship group ( mostly staff or former staff LOL!) held a quilt race in the shop! Lots of FUN! We are going to be having Quilt Time Racing open to everyone on August 19th from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm. But we wanted to give it a try first and it was great, and since the Saratoga Track is open we thought this would be a perfect time for a little racing of our own. We mitred a "Jelly Roll" or 40 WOF strips of fabric to make a total of 1600 inches and then got ready to sew. Judy S. was our winner, making the top in an 1 hour and 26 minutes. The tops are approximately 52" wide by about 60" long, unfinished and without borders. We had lots of laughs while we were sewing.
